Class Descriptions

Please note the following:

 

Classes and programs will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The art classes have limited seating - you must call/talk with Catherine or Priya to reserve a seat.

 

Names will be placed on a waiting list when classes reach capacity.

 

If classes are not enrolled to the minimum level after the second week of class, the class may be cancelled.

 

While all ages are welcome to join classes and activities, minors must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver at all times.

 

If a participant needs assistance with personal care tasks, close monitoring of food intake or requires one-on-one management in order to participate without disrupting the class, he/she must be accompanied by a caregiver. 

All participants must comply with Clallam Mosaic's Code of Conduct in order to continue to participate in programs.​

Art and Arts & Crafts

Art shatters all boundaries and embraces all abilities. All participants appreciate the joys of creative expression. In addition, the programs allow
participants to build and/or improve: i) fine motor skills, ii) problem solving skills, iii) communication and expressive abilities, iv) self-esteem, and, v)
motivation to succeed.
Come join us, creating with acrylic, water color, clay, fabric, reclaimed materials and other media.

 

Art    Sequim

Art & Crafts   Port Angeles

Location: Youth Room, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church

Day & Time: Wednesdays,  1 to 3 pm

Class Size: 15.  Must call to reserve space.

Cooking 1 and 2

Thanks to the Albert Haller Foundation, the Port Angeles Food Bank and Safeway for funding, and donations that allow Mosaic to offer cooking classes without charging additional supply fees.

 

Join us in the HTLC kitchen to learn basic cooking techniques, participate in food preparation and learn about nutrition. Students will create healthy everyday dishes in a fun, creative atmosphere and they will be able to take recipes with them to duplicate at home.

 

This is a popular class, to allow the most particpant acces, we may limit enrollment to one class only.

 

There may be days when class meets in the Youth Room. On these days curriculum will focus on nutrition. Cooking will not provide lunch so always plan to bring lunch if you are staying for the afternoon.

Exercise, Fitness & Yoga

 
Exercise can improve mood, reduce depression/ stress/anxiety, increase focus, energy & strength, improved sleep and self-image. With guest
instructors, activities will include stretching, toning, cardio workouts, yoga, dance, and walking in the community. Please wear comfortable & loose fitting clothing to give your body plenty of room to stretch and bend.

Yoga

During the Thursday lunch hour, Marla Garr will be leading an adaptive, inclusive Yoga class that all are welcome to join. Marla will teach gentle and adaptive yoga to accommodate all abilities and bodies. Everyone is asked to bring their own mat, belt and block. There are limited supplies to borrow, if needed.

This class is offered for free but donations will be collected to help defray costs that Marla is taking on!

 

Port Angeles

R.E.A.D.

Literacy is an essential lifelong skill that affects all aspects of daily life.
Literacy increases opportunities to learn in other areas. Literacy improves individual well-being & self-esteem. Literacy increases opportunities (e.g.
employment, income). Literacy affects social status. In the 2020 Reading, Empowering, Achieving & Developing (R.E.A.D.) program, individualized learning approaches will be used to help each learner achieve realistic literacy goals. Learners will be expected to reinforce their learning outside of class with the support of caregivers and family.

Rec Club 1, 2 and 3

General recreation to provide for the discovery and experience of a variety of activities that promote learning, skill development, creativity, life skills enhancement, and enjoyment. Structured and unstructured activities will provide opportunities for meaningful engagement and community building. Participants can look forward to arts and crafts, birthday bingo, board games, movies and much more.

Theater and Videography

 

Thanks to the Benjamin N Phillips Memorial Fund for providing support

for the 2020 Theater Program.

 

We are in full production for Something Like Disney, the latest endeavor of the Snappy Players Troupe. A mash-up of Disney characters will set forth on humorous adventures that showcase each actor’s unique strengths. Come join the cast as the Troupe works on lines, costumes, characters and physical comedy.
 

Complementing the production, we will hold a Videography class that will
work on aspects of lighting, live action filming, video editing, etc. in order to
capture the magic of the final performances of the Troupe.

Monthly Dances

Come on out and shimmy, sway and delight in the music and company! In addition, there will be a light meal served.

 

Caregivers and family do not pay for entry but are encouraged to make a donation to defray costs of the meal.
