Courageous Kids Climbing Events

Courageous Kids Climbing is an organization that provides free opportunities for children with special needs to experience the various forms of rock climbing. They are hosting some activities in the near future:

  • Ellensburg – Saturday, August 12.  Our second annual event in Ellensburg will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Central Washington University Climbing Center, located in the Recreation Center on campus.

  • Key Peninsula – Sunday, August 13.  This event will be held on the outdoor climbing tower at the YMCA Camp Colman.  This event will run from 10:00 am until noon.

  • Spokane – Saturday, April 21, 2018.  Our third annual event in Spokane will once again be held at Wild Walls and will run from 10:00 am until noon.


  • Moscow, Idaho – Sunday, April 22, 2018.  Our fourth annual event in Moscow will be held at the University of Idaho’s Climbing Center from 10:00 am until noon.  This event is coordinated by a research intern from the UI’s Center for Disabilities and Human Development.

Clallam Night to Shine 2017

With funding from the Tim Tebow Foundation, host church Hillcrest Baptist partnered with 4 area groups (Camp Beausite NW, Clallam Mosaic, The Crossing Church & Wilderness Escapes) to make Night to Shine happen in Port Angeles on February 10, 2017. Olympic Peaks Camera Club members (Jim Hagen, Barbara Lippert, Tim O'Neil, Ardythe Wendt, Celene Wendt) captured some of the highlights of the evening.

Special Olympics


Swimming will begin on Friday, March 10, 2017 at William Shore Pool in Port Angeles. Swimming is scheduled from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.  Plan to be in the pool from 3:45 pm until 4:45 pm.  The date and place have not yet been set for the regional swim meet.



Track & Field will begin on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Port Angeles High School track. Track & Field runs from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.  PARTICIPANTS SHOULD DRESS APPROPRIATELY!!!  (e.g. layers, a warm coat, hat, and mittens or gloves).  In the past, there has been snow during the first few weeks of Track & Field.  The regional track meet will be on Saturday, April 29, 2017.



What has been known in the past as the Summer Games will now be known as the Spring Games - they will be held at JBLM in the first weekend in June.  The "Summer Games" will be held in August and will include summer sports (that means golf & softball for the Orcas).



The regional golf tournament will be on Saturday, July 15, 2017 (two weeks earlier than usual and on a Saturday, rather than a Sunday).  

You MUST have an Application for participation (AFP) signed by a qualified health provider to practice or compete with us. Once signed, the forms ARE valid for ALL SPORTS for 3 YEARS



 Parents and Caregivers please note:  If your athlete requires close supervision, please provide an attendant for practices and for the tournament.
