Small class sizes are required to enable the best outcomes for each attendee. Participants can sign up for one of the Art Studio classes.  Attendance will be closely monitored – missing more than 2 classes may result in removal from class as there are several people on wait lists for available seating.

Participants must be able to hold focus for 10-15 minutes at a time to participate in Art class.

Living Stronger

Spring term classes were filled with lively discussions as participants shared amazing insights around topics such as bullying, developing friendships, and creating personal boundaries. Participants explored the importance of effective problem solving and useful steps to help them be successful.  Discussions focused on who to go to for help and how to contact them. Participants also learned the value of using a calendar to keep track of important appointments and activities. During Fall Term, participants will revisit topics from Spring Term and begin to explore many other important issues that are part of daily living, e.g. how to develop strategies to distinguish safe situations from ones “red flags” that require caution.

For participants to get the most out of this class they must be able to actively engage in discussions, role-playing and other team activities.

Theatre Intensive

Snappy Players Troupe

Theater has become a cornerstone of Clallam Mosaic’s day programs. For over eight years, Bonne Smith (with Anna Andersen in the past 2 years) has championed an annual Theater program to engage participants in theatrical performance. Our recent production of “A Midsummer Forest” was an example of the amazing progress participants have made. It has become very apparent that these budding thespians are ready to take their theatrical work up a notch, and this requires us to explore different approaches to delivery of this important art form.

To that end, instead of offering a term-long Theater class, we will be offering a “Theatre Intensive” – 2 hours per day, 3 days per week for 4 weeks. Participants will continue to work with Bonne and Anna to create, rehearse and deliver short plays in a condensed, intense rehearsal process. Participation in the Theater Intensive will help set goals for an excellent theatre adventure through drama games, improvisation and team building exercises. The Intensive will give participants more of a professional theatre experience.

Participants will continue to work on important skills such as listening without interrupting, following directions, acting with the body in standing, sitting & moving positions, being aware of spatial situation and supporting others.  These skills are directly transferrable to employment and other life settings. Acting is just like a job. It requires all the skills associated with any employment, show up, be prepared, work independently or as part of a team with deadlines and product goals.
